Reification of the Horse
“Reification of the Horse” is about a dream I had, like most work I’ve made they are made from unconsciousness derived from my dreams. Obviously, to normal anatomical standards, this is not a horse but that's immaterial. During my dream this creature was undoubtedly a horse, its presence, there wasn't a question. When I saw the horse, I knew it was a horse. It was like an instinct, the same way you can look at your hand and know that it is yours.
After Time
This piece is called, "After Time". It is a representation of life after mankind's destruction of natural life through mass corporate production.
Before Time
This piece is called, "Before Time". It is a representation of life before mankind's destructive nature.
Mother Time
This piece is called, "Mother Time". The woman sitting in front of the paint of "Before Time", is the creator of time represented by the chrome-like orbs in this and previous pieces that she creates to fix a broken world.
Esse Est Percipi
Surrealism is made to be perceived, lacking a narrative and yet expressing meaning through the symbolism of an unconscious mind. The name Esse Est Percipi is Latin for, “To be is to be perceived” meaning all matter exists only because we perceive it. This mantra falls under solipsism which is a philosophical idea that says all knowledge outside of your own mind is unsure and that objective truth doesn’t exist and nothing in the external world and its workings can be known. This in itself is surrealism, this piece shares the juxtaposition of existing and not existing in one’s mind similarly to people who suffer from manic episodes and mania. Euphoria leads to obsession leads to delusions leads to depression, this is something I deal with on a daily basis. I lack the ability to be consequential in others' lives. This is a delusion, after overthinking I spiral into unsure perceptions of myself and how others think of me hence, Esse Est Percipi.
I Think Therefore I Am
This piece shows the duality of man and the humanity that was lost, a beginning and an ending. The philosophical statement says, " I doubt, therefore I think, therefore I am" but I doubt, therefore I think, therefore I am not. humanity views each other as not worthy of peace yet also wanting to be happy, this juxtaposition is killing us.
Respiratory Collapse
This piece is called, "Respiratory Collapse" it is a dream I had during a point in my life when I was suffering from apnea. The little men represent me entering and exiting the suspended water connected to the cube in the center. The pockets where the men a suspended are representative of the point in sleep when I was breathing and the water is when I was not.
Societies Obstruction
This piece is called, "Societies Obstruction". This piece shows the creation of natural life being destroyed by man-made creations as time goes on.
